IS Applied Intelligence
About

Engineering with intent.

IS Applied Intelligence Ltd is a UK-based engineering intelligence consultancy founded on more than two decades of offshore structural engineering — now extended with platform development in fabrication delivery (FDI) and weight intelligence (DWIP), ahead of public launch.

Founder

Meet the founder.

The firm is led by a lead structural consultant with hands-on experience across the sectors it now serves. A founder portrait will be added when ready — the focus for now is delivery and platform build.

Lee Heng Chuah

Founder & Lead Structural Consultant

United Kingdom · Worldwide

Lee Heng Chuah is a UK-based lead structural consultant with more than 20 years of experience across offshore oil and gas, renewable energy, heavy industrial and infrastructure projects. His work combines practical engineering judgement with AI, automation and digital engineering methods.

IS Applied Intelligence Ltd was founded to bring this combined practice to industry — applying decades of structural engineering experience together with modern computational methods to help clients move faster, with confidence.

Today the firm is split between consultancy delivery and two platforms in active development: Fabrication Delivery Intelligence (FDI), Digital Weight Intelligence Platform (DWIP). All remain pre-launch while workflows are hardened with early users and pilot conversations.

The firm operates with a small-team philosophy: the lead structural consultant leads each engagement directly, every output is reviewed by someone who understands its consequences, and every model is built to be defensible long after the project closes.

Current focus

What we're building now.

Before public website launch, IS Applied Intelligence is developing fdi and dwip alongside consultancy work.

In active development

Fabrication Delivery Intelligence

A web platform for fabrication yard teams to see what is blocking progress, who owns each constraint, and what needs to happen next to protect delivery.

In active development

Digital Weight Intelligence Platform

A platform for tracking weight growth, centre of gravity, and installation limits as modules evolve through fabrication — so loadout, transportation and hook-up decisions rest on current data, not stale estimates.

This website reflects our consultancy practice and platform work in progress. FDI and DWIP are not publicly launched yet — contact us for early conversations or early access.

Engineering Background

Two decades, four sectors.

A career rooted in hands-on structural engineering — across the high-consequence sectors where rigour, safety and constructability matter most.

Offshore Oil & Gas

Topsides, jackets, secondary and tertiary steelwork, loadout and lifting, transportation and installation engineering.

Renewable Energy

Fixed and floating offshore wind support, mooring and anchor research, foundation risk and technical advisory.

Heavy Industrial

Complex industrial steel frames, temporary works and lifting plans for plant, modules and process facilities.

Infrastructure

Civil and structural engineering review, technical justification and constructability advice on built-environment projects.

Project details remain confidential by default. Capability decks, redacted examples and references can be shared under NDA on request.

Why Applied Intelligence

The name reflects the practice.

We chose the name carefully. 'Applied' speaks to engineering discipline — methods that earn their place in a real project. 'Intelligence' speaks to the combination of human judgement and computational methods. Both, working together.

Engineering judgement is irreplaceable

Computational power amplifies engineers — it does not substitute them. Every meaningful output still rests on human judgement.

AI accelerates, it does not replace

Machine learning is most useful where it speeds up the parts of engineering that already work — not where it bypasses them.

Reproducibility is non-negotiable

Models, scripts and data must be traceable end-to-end. If a result can't be reproduced, it can't be trusted.

Tools must serve engineers

Every workflow we build is designed for the engineer at the keyboard — not for the convenience of a vendor or the elegance of a model.

Mission & Values

What we hold ourselves to.

A short list — but every project tests them.

Mission

To make high-stakes engineering decisions faster, safer and more defensible — by combining decades of structural engineering practice with modern computational and AI methods.

Engineering judgement first

Methods serve outcomes. Every model is chosen for the problem at hand — never the other way round.

Research-grade rigour

We document assumptions, validate against benchmarks, and treat reproducibility as a first-class deliverable.

Defensible deliverables

Every output is auditable — traceable from raw input through assumption to result, ready for technical review.

AI as a tool, not a buzzword

Machine learning is integrated where it accelerates real engineering work — and stopped where it doesn't.

Future Direction

Where IS Applied Intelligence is heading.

The next chapter combines consultancy with product platforms — pursued patiently, in step with the industries we serve.

Direction · 01

Fabrication delivery intelligence (FDI)

Operational platforms for fabrication yards — starting with constraint management and shared delivery visibility, then expanding into broader planning and execution workflows.

Direction · 02

Digital weight intelligence (DWIP)

Weight registers, centre-of-gravity visibility, and loadout readiness — connecting yard updates to marine and installation limits as modules evolve through fabrication.
